SPLINTER: Paint Percussion Into the Cracks

Paint glass, wire, and wood hits across sixteen steps, tune the fracture, and export the exact loop you auditioned.

SPLINTER is a three-voice percussion braid for producers who need movement above the kick and snare without digging through another sample folder. Paint ghost, hit, and accent states across sixteen steps, then assign glass, sprung wire, or dead wood to each lane.

The instrument keeps a fixed close-mic character: dry impacts, short bodies, sharp transients. The useful decisions stay exposed. Pitch changes the register of each strand. Decay controls whether it behaves like a tick or a thrown fragment. Grit roughens the contact. Swing and timing lean place the whole braid around the grid.

Three starting jobs cover swung UKG skips, dense DnB top rollers, and sparse halftime debris. BPM remains session-global when recipes change. Playback loops until stopped, live material edits enter at the next bar boundary, and WAV export prints the same deterministic renderer as stereo 48 kHz, 16-bit PCM for Ableton.
